Some say that obsession is far easier to deal with heartbreak. Nearly destroyed by the infidelity of those they had once given their heart to and waning in the absence of their loved ones two females set out on similar paths, completely unaware of the other's existence. One simply sought the ability to mend her heart and to steel it so she might be able to see through false lovers in the future and protect herself; the other sought to destroy her pain by casting aside her heart. Both of magical backgrounds one of them was woefully unpracticed in the arts her ancestors once practiced while the other had been practicing for ages, dabbling in shadow magics she had no real business meddling with. When one wanders with no real destination in mind they typically arrive right where they need to be - or land themselves in a trap. It was a strange town the first of them found herself in - if you asked there would be no way for her to tell you exactly where it was or what it was called. She simply arrived there one day and though she didn't come across any occupants in the town it was clearly well taken care of... ghost towns are typically run down but this one was decidedly not. Finding herself in the library she threw herself into the many books there, content to lose herself in whimsy for awhile. As she browsed the old tomes she eventually played right into the hands of the crafty lich whose trap she had sprung. He needed a soul, a heart, and she had come alone with no one looking for her. At first he offered a deal but when she refused he took what he wanted from her, ripping out her essence and storing it away so he could slowly feed off her suffering. It mattered not to him that she had left behind a family; she was but a fool, a pawn that he would hold on to. Fantastical stories of far off lands full of promise and princes did not hold the interest of the other when she came upon the same library some time later - she needed something more. Something... darker. In a shadowy corner of the library she found what appeared to be ancient tomes with no names. Pouring over them she found all number of spells and more information about the occult than she'd ever imagined could exist. A fire was lit inside of her and she began to crave more than the books could provide. One evening she decided the time for reading was over, she needed to try the spells. The first few went off without a hitch - small things that were simple enough like controlling the wind to move things to and fro, freezing water, lighting a flame at the tips of her fingers. If only she had stopped there... Simple spells began to bore her and the voice in her head cried out for more. Only with power could she cast the pain from her heart and start anew. Flipping through the pages of an ancient tome she came across a spell that promised to fix all of her problems. Her heart would no longer ache and she'd never fear having it broken again. She'd become powerful and have a true purpose in life, or so the spell promised. Surrendering herself to the obsession that gripped her heart and compelled her forward she cast the spell... Chaos erupted around her as the library melted away and she found herself face to face with the lich whose spell she'd just cast. Whatever she once was was gone. The spell did as it promised - it changed everything. Transformed into a creature with no name it became readily apparent that she'd never suffer from a broken heart again because her heart no longer lived within her chest. A price had to be paid and he took the first soul and heart he'd captured and twined it with hers, forcing two to become one so he might feed off their mutual agony and discontent. Locking their souls and hearts in a phylactery he had ensured that not only would she live forever but she would never again feel the sting of love's end - nor would she feel love's soft caress either. Power coursed through her veins giving her the ability to wield magic she'd never been able to before. Rather than telling her the true cost of her magic the lich sent her back into the living world, a creature who was neither alive nor dead and whose powers had yet to be truly tested... No longer recognizable as who she once was she cast aside her old name in favor of a new one. Virus. Love had been the ailment that had sent the two of them wandering in the first place, the only ailment for which there was no true cure. Unbeknownst to the lich the two souls he had forged together were far more powerful than they had been alone and slowly memories of her past lives began to flood back to her. Knowing who she once was she also knew she could not return to the lives she had lived before - not when she was now a monster. Seeking out the familiar offered some comfort and it was not long before she felt herself drawn to those she recognized from her past lives, unable to stay away despite the pain they had once wrought upon her. She could not find it in herself to blame them for what had befallen her, she had been foolish and tried to use magic as a shortcut around her heartache - only she was to blame. Reclaiming the phylactery that contained the merged souls and hearts of her former selves, Virus came to terms with the pain of her past and began planning a future. The warmth of another called to her, and oh how warm he was. Still, time passed as it is wont to do and unfortunately nothing lasts forever. Left alone in the world again she was reminded of the cost of love, yet rather than allowing herself to be consumed by bitterness once again she simply moved on. Love would not destroy her as it had in the past - she may not have learned her lesson well enough to steer clear of such a pointless emotion but she wouldn't be torn asunder as she had before. - 5'6", without counting the antlers into her height. - Often wears padded gloves in public... people can be so squeamish when presented with bones. - Though her body is warm all exposed bones are ice cold. - Green-gold eyes, they can shift in color and are gray when upset. - Probably won't curse you... but no promises. - Has a ice blue crystallized paw print on her right breast. I had all and then most of you
