The Cube is a lightweight, shiny chrome object. A six sided cube, perhaps five inches on each side, with many smoothly recessed dials, and two large buttons.
Mei claims to have found it in a junk shop, near the coast. Supposedly, they were happy to be rid of it, for only a pair of piglets and a kayak.
Function:
When not in operation, all surfaces are bright, clean, and reflective, with a uniform chrome appearance. Many of the nuances of the controls doubtless elude the typical savage, however, some simple explanation is possible.
"Buffer"
The first button memorises the user's shape and substance, at the time that it has been pressed.
"Re-arrange"
Following the parameters set by the dials, among which duration is most crucial, re-arrange carries out the manipulation of the buffered user's form. The Cube seems to have a vast library of shapes that have been buffered in the past.
"Restore" (Automatic)
After the chosen amount of time has elapsed, the initially buffered shape and mass is restored.
Malfunction:
Upon performing the re-arrangement, The Cube vanishes, along with the user, whose transmuted form will appear shortly after activation, as intended. However, upon performing the restoration, the cube will emit a distinctly bothersome screeching noise after re-materialising, as well as a questionable amount of heat and light.
This is possibly due to a miscalibration of the cooldown timing sequence, in which the Cube is intended to remain within the void until after all highly energetic emissions have ceased.
