Amidst the soup of colorful, mismatched creatures and the general cacophony of purrs and growls, this young woman looks... unaffected. Not deadpan, mind you, but as she rifles through her glossy handbag, or files her nails, she seems as comfortable as she would if she were merely in a mall's foodcourt, or her own living room.
A human, just a human. Why, 'round these parts it made her a bit of an anomaly, didn't it? She seemes mid-twenties, average height, and of mixed race. A Quadroon, if the expression is still used. Her hair is a long, thick mess of tight, soft curls the color of rust- normally tied up in a messy half bun, or flowing out over her shoulders. What a lovely mix of Irish and.. hm... Caribbean? African? Haitian? -...it's so hard to tell, just from a glance. Her skin is clearly of a yellowy brown hue, but in a way (and in some places in particular) she is paler than many caucasians, especially with how popular tanning is, these days. Get close enough, and one would see the freckles that spread beneath her eyes, and the two on her upper lip. Her mouth is cushy and quite full, having that velvety matte look of a rose petal, and the color of a white peach's blush. Her eyes, a deep earthy green, flit across the room, oft lingering on the larger, more brutish tubgoers.
She stands to stretch, and her figure is better seen. Youthful, befitting her age, but a bit.. heavier towards the bottom. She certainly fills out her yoga pants, when she wears them. Otherwise, she is generally draped in a loose maxi dress that does little to hide the shape of her hips on an otherwise small frame. An oversized purse sits on the couch next to her. Glossy patent leather, silver studs at the handles, your regular metrogirl fare. But a few strange trinkets hang from one loop: A small doll, beads, a silver crow's skull. And it seems that the bag itself is absolutely bottomless... The couch she sits on is a large antique- Velvet floral upholstery in tones of deep reds, aubergine, jade and gold. The buttons on the overstuffed surfaces are deep set and copper, a relief of..a strangely incongruous goat's head on each. What a queer and nearly imperceptible detail.. The edges are trimmed in gold braid, and rather ostentatious tasseling lines the bottom edge. It's an ugly couch and she knows it.
She seems to have a bit of an obsession with her own hands; she is constantly seen filing, buffing, or painting her nails. To be fair, though, they are pretty, and she is particularly skilled with them. Telling from their softness, she is also fond of lotions and oils. The nails are normally some manner of glossy purple or blood red, and a length of silver wraps one finger. A... serpent, maybe. It's hard to see. A similar ring lies on her opposite thumb. At her wrist a tattoo, maybe hinting at a love of the theatrical, or having some other meaning. It's smallish and simple; a tophat and a cane, the head of which resembling the handle of a skeleton key. Well, loads of people have tattoos these days, perhaps it means nothing at all.
What seems incongruous with the woman's normal, contemporary style and state is the old, untitled tome she is sometimes seen with. There, you see her lift her hair with her arms, an arch pulling into her slender spine as she gathers her curls into a ponytail, and a strange, blanched symbol is seen on the back of her neck. A complicated miniature patchwork of...A flourished heart..and crosses, perhaps? Best not to mention it.
Ah, she saw you. Her hand settles on that book, and she grins. You blink, and the tome is gone. Her smile flickers faintly from open, to knowing, and wry.
