Garu grew up in the Village of the Winds, a secluded village that was home to "Benders of Air," humans with the ability to manipulate the wind. He left his village at age ten, after his parents died, in search of enlightenment. He found a Ninja Village and joined, learning the arts of ninjitsu and following a strict code of Honor. These ninja were honorable, and not sly theives or bandits.
