It lurks...
A dark beast the size of a rhino and a half, or a couple of chianina bulls rolled into one, this beast simply...lurks, nearby. Not particularly sneaky, however. It tends to fold up any place that suits its liking and watch. Speaks up from time to time, it's low, rolling voice coming from nowhere in particular.
About 8 feet at the shoulder, and a great deal more than that if it decides to stand up. Excessively massive, in bone and fat and muscle. All of it is ebon black, and no part of it reflects light, save its eyes and glossy mane, a mass of black hackle feathers that run from its jaw to midway down its back and chest. A partially hairless beast, its charcoal hide is thinly covered in short fur. The beast moves by a somewhat leonid locomotion, and has massive, cruel reptilian feet with curling talons, and a short, wedge-shaped head with a cruel grin. Slitted nostrils on a profile that arches from brow to jaw. Two spiral-threaded horns arch back from its skull, and two long, forward-facing tusks jut from its chin. Beady, dead-white eyes are often covered up with an ornate silver plate that spans the upper portion of the beast's head, like a metal blindfold. However, it seems unaffected by this lack of light. A thick, serpentine tail follows; it is forked from the base, and strangely rejoins after three feet. There is a large ring dangling from its nostrils. From time to time it may pull out a trinket or two, hidden away in its mane and held near its heart by a pair of much smaller, more articulate hands that hide beneath its barrel chest.
