Let’s try this again…
Ok, sadly the last load of Cthulhu sessions collapsed under technical difficulties. As a result I am going to try again with a less intensive format, and on e that specifically will allow people to post when they have the time available.
Specifically we will be using a watered down set of the De Profundis rules.
For those of you that do not know, De Profundis is a game where the players build a story together through letters. The full system involves actually writing letters to people, and other exercises like looking at everything through the lens of madness to get inspiration. We will not be doing that part.
Instead interested parties will join in on a wiki, adding letters to a chain that will show an investigation into an occult or Mythos artefact. People can therefore jump in and out and post whenever they have time, making things a great deal easier. As the last game collapsed due to time difference and people not being able to spend all night chatting, this seems like the best solution.
To clarify a few points;
1 - The time period is most likely to stay in the 1920’s, although the locations of the different players can vary.
2 - There is no reason not to have furs and hoomans living together in this game like I had in the last one. There is not furry-on-human violence or vice-versa. People can just have their letter-writing character be a fur or interact with furs if they choose too.
3 - The overall theme is that the characters take the parts of members of an occult or fringe scholars collective. They let each other know about unusual artefacts that they have found, specifically contacting people with areas of expertise that lie outside their own sphere of knowledge. These people can come from anywhere in the world, and theoretically can go anywhere so long as there is a reason for having funds or time. For instance, a professor that is chained to a desk job at a university in London would have a hard time getting to Egypt. But of course, the player could send a letter of introduction to another character, perhaps the professors’ Egyptologist friend…etc.
4 - No Mythos knowledge or abilities on starting characters. This is a big one. Your character can be an occultists, and maybe vaguely have heard of some dodgy goings on in regards to certain books, but you will have no Cthulhu Mythos, working spells and the like. Areas of experience may involve things that brush on the Mythos, but until the story calls for it, you can assume every fresh character is completely and utterly in the dark about the workings of the Cthulhu world. This does extend to characters slightly. No deep one hybrids, ghouls, sexy night gaunt maids or avatars of anything! No, your furry character in the game may not be an anthro moon beast. This rule could be relaxed in the future based on the way longer stories are going.
I think that covers most of the basic points. If you are interested in playing or have another question then PM Tony and I’ll get back to you via the same method. :D There is one question I’m sure a lot of people will be interested in, so I’ll post that below and expand the list.

FAQ
Q - This proposal involves the words ‘Tony’, ‘roleplaying’ and takes place through the Tub. It’s got to be an excuse for hardcore tentacle sex, right?
A - No. >.> That is not a hard, definite ‘no sexyness’ rule. But on the whole this game is about writing letters back and forth between scholars and their friends as they try and puzzle out the workings of an odd artefact or situation. Therefore unless there is some reason too, there is unlikely to be much in the way of racy material. Maybe the story could include an account of a sexual encounter, if it is plot related, but that’s hardly going to happen all the time.
