With a straight back yet relaxed shoulders, a slight squint to his eyes a fair amount of the time and a pensive look to his face, Buddy was a down-to-earth rat, a simple rat who was very much lost in his own thoughts at times. His body frame reinforced that notion, for he stood about five feet, nine inches tall and had a thin, slight frame, at least in shape and overall size. Usually chilling off to the side doing something like reading a book or tinkering with something with his tools, Buddy was a simple, passive rat with simple pleasures.
His fur was agouti-patterned, chiefly brown but with blackened roots. The fur was kept pretty short, the normally-black tips shorn away very uniformly across his entire body, even atop his head; he did not have a 'hair style' of any sort, preferring to keep the top and the back of his head as short-furred as the rest of his body. His eyes were a very dark auburn, providing just enough of a contrast with his fur color to be prominent. His muzzle was on the shorter side and rounded, and he had a pink nose and small, rounded pink ears. His teeth were completely covered when his mouth was closed.
His arms were naturally toned from a life of simple labor; they had a bit of bulk to them and some shape, but they were not the arms of someone that physically trained regularly. His agouti fur graded into a very light brown as one approached his pink paws; the paws themselves had the claws filed down, and they were nondescript save for one curious feature. At the first knuckle on the fingers of each paw, the flesh was reddened and very smooth in contrast with the rest of the paw. Buddy did take to wearing gloves over his hands; these gloves, colored black, were made of synthetic fibers and leathers and did not display any logos or writing.
With a body weight of 165 pounds, Buddy was a slightly skinny rat, with a wiry build, wrought by many years of simple, heavy labor as well as fixing and tinkering with big machines and vehicles. His legs, likewise, were relatively thin yet toned, with his calves especially prominent; overall, Buddy was just slightly on the smaller side frame-wise when it came to rats. His tail, light brown in color, extended from the small of his back to just behind his calves, not touching the ground if he was standing straight.
His outfit was similarly rustic and down-to-earth. On his head, he wore a black trucker's cap, with a logo on the crown of the hat. The logo was a circle, with a small motorboat in the middle and the letter P in three places around it; one was above the boat and the other two were at the bottom left and bottom right of the boat. The cap's stitching was a dull yellow and the mesh at the back of the cap was not fine, but rather coarse, wide enough to stick a rat claw into. Buddy wore this hat at nearly all times, even when asleep, with the hat frequently over his muzzle rather comically while he slept away.
On his chest he wore a black sleeveless jersey vest, with shoulders that extended from neck to the beginning of his arms, and on his legs he wore a pair of black denim jeans, with dull yellow stitching and a hole in the back for his tail to go through. The pants were faded slightly on the front of the legs, but they otherwise looked in good condition. Around the waist of his pants was a leather belt with pouches and small tool holsters containing tools like screwdrivers and small wrenches, the pouches and holsters able to be detached or untied from the belt as needed. On his feet, he wore a pair of simple work boots that reached to his ankles, dark brown in color.
